The Experience of the US and Japan in Agricultural Economic Development Policy and Lessons for Vietnam

Abstract

The article examines the experience of developed countries such as the US and Japan in developing
agricultural economies, thereby drawing lessons for Vietnam in developing agricultural economies in the coming
time. By using qualitative research, such as synthesis, regression and interpretation methods, the author has
identified important lessons learned for the development of agricultural economy in Vietnam. On the basis of the
research, the author offers a number of solution recommendations for the development of Vietnam's agricultural
economy, such as: (i) Building a legal system; (ii) Investing in research and development; (iii) Encouraging
sustainable practices; (iv) Strengthening land rights and supporting rural infrastructure; (v) Developing
agricultural value chains and promoting sustainable trade.
